Elizabeth Keohan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Talkspace Therapist and a member of the Talkspace Council of Mental Health Experts. Elizabeth also currently works as a School Social Worker and is employed by a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) as an adult Psychotherapist. As a Clinician of Color (COC) and a first generation Filipino American, she cherishes the privilege of serving professionally in this capacity while raising her four teenagers with her husband. She has made expert contributions in national publications most notably The Chicago Tribune, Healthline, Men’s Health, Very Well Mind, and Good Morning America.

“It is a privilege to be on the front lines of mental health. As Clinicians, we have our pulse on the fluidity of our times. The polarity of working with both children and adults has actually created a beautiful balance in my work that offers an intimate understanding of the human condition, which has been persistently humbled by the obvious stressors in today’s world.”

Educational Information

Elizabeth is a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical, (LCSW-C) in Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree, Psychology (BS) at Fordham University, Bronx, New York in 1994 and her Masters in Social Work (MSW) at Fordham University in New York, New York in 2000. Elizabeth has enjoyed working with children, adolescents, and adults throughout communities in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, New York City, and Maine. Over the course of her career, she has worked with at-risk children and families both as a School Social Worker and in community based non-profit work but grounded her clinical skills in Psychiatric Social Work with adolescents and adults.

Experience

Elizabeth has worked as a clinician for over 20 years but credits her parents for a lifelong exposure to community service and the mental health field. In the last several years, Elizabeth has worked largely in an outpatient setting but during COVID returned to her School Social Work roots. Elizabeth has worked extensively with clinical disorders, but has a unique comfort working with individuals facing grief, loss, and other phase of life changes. Elizabeth aims to combine a compassionate, holistic and cognitive behavioral approach, to help counter the somatic response that is often accompanied by stress, anxiety, and mood disorders. She works to encourage both movement and exercise as adjuvant therapies and a vehicle for mindfulness.

About Talkspace

Elizabeth began her work as a Talkspace therapist in 2019 and joined the Mental Health Council of Experts as a content contributor in 2021.
